2010 - 2011 TAKS Scores
We are a Recognized campus for the 2010 - 2011 school year!
Check out our scores in the document below:
Dismissal
Walkers:
Teachers will take students who walk home to the outside of the back courtyard gates where they will exit via Hayes Road.
Siblings will meet at their designated areas to go home together. If a parent would like to pick up their child via walking, they must meet their child at the Hayes Road gates. Parents will not be allowed to walk up and pick up students from the carpool areas.
Car Riders:
Askew has 2 pick-up areas: Teachers Lot & Circle Drive
Is your child picked up by car? Please review the Pick Up Rules and map.
Please take some time to discuss after school pick up with your child. It is important children know how they get home each afternoon. Remember, we have your child’s best interest in mind. We look forward to your cooperation as we work towards a safe and smooth afternoon dismissal.
School Uniforms
For the 2010 – 2011 school year, Askew Elementary is looking forward to our students showing their pride through school uniforms. The Askew uniform is required and noncompliance to the dress code will lead to disciplinary action.
Tops
Tops should be solid in color (red, white, or navy blue) with no logos larger than 1". Shirts with the Askew logo (available from the PTO), Askew spirit shirts and Askew club shirts are also allowed. Tops that should not be worn include: Halter tops, tank-tops, shirts that show bare midriffs, T-shirts with inappropriate slogans, clothing made from sheer materials, shirts that are torn, shirts that are sleeveless or have spaghetti straps.
Bottoms
Bottoms should be solid in color (red, white, navy blue, blue jeans and khaki) or Askew plaid and include pants, shorts, jeans, jumpers, dresses, skirts, and culottes. Bottoms should be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee, while standing. Girls wearing jumpers, dresses or skirts must wear shorts underneath. Bottoms should not be worn if they are shorter than 2 inches above the knee, are torn, have writing, logos, slogans or embroidery on the backside or the legs, if they show underwear, or are loose fitting and "sagging". Boys should wear a belt if the bottoms are loose to keep them at appropriate waist level.
Shoes and Other Items
Children attend recess daily as well as P.E. on their specials day. Traveling around our campus involves walking outside on sidewalks, so for safety reasons we encourage all students to wear rubber soled shoes daily. Athletic (tennis) style shoes are recommended. Sandals, flip flops, platform shoes, shoes that 'turn into' roller skates, and "slip-on" shoes with no back are not safe for school wear and are not allowed.
Girls wearing skirts, dresses or jumpers should always wear shorts under these items.
Make-up is not allowed at school.
Students out of uniform will be sent to the office to contact a parent to bring in a change of clothes. If a parent is not able to do so, the school will provide a school uniform to change into. At the end of the day, the student will then come down to change back into their clothes. Each day a student is not in uniform they will be missing valuable learning time. Therefore, we ask that parents please spend an extra minute in the morning to check their child’s uniform. On a second offense of dress code violation, students will be assigned an after school detention. Thank you for helping us implement our uniform policy and strive for academic excellence.
Need Askew apparel? Print the form below and return it to the front office. It will be turned into the PTO for processing.
